University of Alaska Fairbanks?

was thinking of going there... I have 2 years to decide and I might as well look at my options now! I live in NJ, so that all the way across the country! What is campus life like? What are some things to do there? (movies?) What are classes like?

I want to be an elementary school teacher, sooo yeah.

Thanks!

(is the scenery nice? are there lots of outdoor activities to do?)

Also my GPA average is about a 3.5, will that damage my chances of getting accepted, or help them?
Here is the best place to start looking

And here is the page for the School of Education, for your major if you want to be an elementary teacher:

To be fair I should say I work for UAF, and Love Fairbanks. Yes there are lots of interesting outdoor activities around Fairbanks, summer and winter. The campus has opportunities and clubs. Plus the Fairbanks community has lots going on; running, climbing, biking, cross country skiing, sports. If you look at the local paper online it will give you a sense of the community:

And UAF Outdoor Adventure has a lot going on:

It is not a big city, so your not going to get the big name bands, shopping malls, or hot clubs. But we do have great live local music. And The Blue loon has bands from the Lower 48 (some all ages shows), and movie nights: http://www.theblueloon.com/

And we have a movie theater, that just got an IMAX

I have never lived on campus, and my office is not on main campus. But I do know there is a active theater and arts scene going on. With plays and student art shows. There is good wifi everywhere on campus. The museum is excellent. And there is a very good student rec center / gym / pool complex. The bookstore is a little weak. Well shopping in general can be limited in Fairbanks. Don
