Can somebody tell me any way to call pakistan which is cheap enough!?
hi i m in new york and most of my relatives live in pakistan and i m trying to find a way to call them cheaply, mostly they don't have internet so it is not possible to do voice chat, so is there any site through which i can call back pakistan on land line! or can somebody suggest me any calling card which which is cheap one and have good voice quality! Places to hike in hudson valley ny?
Im looking for a long trail, not something I can do in a day, where I wont have to really cross roads or anything. What I would really like is if their are any trails, official or just woodland, that run up to albany. Basically, I just want an adventure in the woods that could last atleast a week, not just staying in one place.

I was just reimbursed - in cash - for my plane ticket to (and from) Japan and for living expenses (2 weeks) while in Japan. Quite a chunk of change. What's my best option for converting that back to U.S. dollars? Exchange it while still in Japan (bank? airport?)? Carry it back to the US and do it there (I live near NYC - no shortage of banks there)? Something else?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "good" job but I think that it has it's goods and bads. IMO, The positives of neurology is that it makes you think. Also, the pay is excellent!
I think the big negative in neurology is that a lot of the times you don't know what you're dealing with. Most of the time you won't be able to point out right away what the problem is. You'd have to take a lot of tests to figure out the problem. It's a pretty difficult field, but if you like it and if you're good at it, I think it could be a good job for you.

Is it difficult to get a job in the medical billing in coding field?
I have heard that it is very difficult to get a job in this field without 2 or 3 years experience. Is this true? This is a field that i am really interested in pursing, but i don't want to waste my time or my hard earned money on this course if employers or years of experience before they will even hire you. Am i making the right decision by choosing this field?

Certified Nursing Assistant program?
There is a school in the city where i live that offers a CNA, Patient Care Technician, Home Health Aid, and a CPR combo program together. I will take all 4 of these combo programs together for 4 months. Does this sound like i am making the right decision by getting into these programs?

my ex was a medical student with me; he broke up with me after he got engaged to another girl . last time i contacted him was a year ago when i called him and yelled @ him and wished him the worst ,
just to let you know; he was always verbally abusive and i kept treating him with love; but when he told me i am not the one for him ; i kept questioning why he is doing this to me; he said i was just there to please myself sexually and meant nothing to him; and if i wanted he can hook me up (for sex) purporses with his cousin. i kept crying he said i was pathetic with no dignity and i was not crazy but insane
now the question is ; in order for me to apply to a job i have to do volunteer work and the hospital that i have high chances of getting accepted @ is affiliated with the hospital he works at, do i go there or not, i dont want to see him again; do i apply to another hospital but have lower chances or getting accepted; or do i give him the satisfaction of seeing me single; just like he said that i will be a single doctor, because of my career choice and personality
Ultimately it comes down to whether or not you can deal with working around him. I have always been a firm believer in doing what is best for me. If working there is your best career option then I would go for it. Additionally, you will be surprised at how empowering it can be to achieve your goals despite everything that is going on. If need be, consume yourself in your work so you don't have to think about it.
The best thing you can do is to prove him wrong in everything he has said. WIth people like that who have to put others down to make themselves feel better, it is pointless to try to argue or defend yourself because it will get you nowhere. Simply live your life and accomplish your goals.

If it were me, I would try to stay as far away as I could from this individual as abuse can escalate albeit the two of you are no longer (thankfully) in a relationship (and hopefully never will again :) Perhaps you can apply to some other hospitals, if even, the next state just over the border of your state of residence.

I looked on the site (believe that it's same place that you're referring to) and it seems like a lovely place (though 'looks can be deceiving' ;) Please don't be worried that the residents won't take to you. Just about everyone worries about that, but with experience, one can become more self-assured and confident. Regarding conversation, one may be able to comment about the current weather conditions/favorite season(s), the resident's logo on his or her top, piece of jewelry that the resident is wearing, looking at the newspaper together and talking about some current events (hopefully nothing too upsetting), hobbies and interests of both of you. It's also a good idea to talk to them as though they don't have limitations such as if used to play basketball but now unable to due to legs not working correctly, referring to them as someone who 'plays' (instead of 'played') basketball.

Unemployment/medical leave?
I have a family member who has had an opiate addiction for the past 5 years. Recently, he told his employer and was offered paid medical leave to go to treatment. He was told his job would be available to him as soon as he was released to come back. He did so, and upon his return, was informed that he was still indeed employed there, but basically as a broom pusher - down from a very advance position in the company.
Going through union representation will take a long time. Hes been told that if he doesn't take this position, he'll be fired.
My question - If he was to be fired, would he get unemployment? On what conditions does someone get those benefits? I want to help but don't know where to start. And as you might guess, the family is overwhelmed right now.
Honest and non-judgmental answers will be appreciated.

I would have your friend check with a labor representative. He should find out exactly what the terms were for his medical leave and his employer keeping his job open.
It sounds to me like they are just trying to bully him into quitting of his own accord so they won't have to pay him any benefits. (of course, that is my own opinion from reading the above question)
You could also check with your local employment division regarding unemployment benefits; they may also have some answers concerning the medical leave/employment question as well.
If the employee was on medical leave, the employer is required to keep him employed and offer an equivalent position upon his return. The only way he can terminate such person is if the position itself was eliminated through process such as re-organization or layoffs.
I'm sure you didn't actually mean custodial work.
This would be a good time to consult an attorney for options. Someone will need to evaluated all the circumstances and come to a game plan. Getting an anonymous tips from open forums such as this, based on incomplete information won't help you/him much.

My question - If he was to be fired, would he get unemployment? On what conditions does someone get those benefits? I want to help but don't know where to start. And as you might guess, the family is overwhelmed right now.

I would have your friend check with a labor representative. He should find out exactly what the terms were for his medical leave and his employer keeping his job open.
It sounds to me like they are just trying to bully him into quitting of his own accord so they won't have to pay him any benefits. (of course, that is my own opinion from reading the above question)
You could also check with your local employment division regarding unemployment benefits; they may also have some answers concerning the medical leave/employment question as well.
If the employee was on medical leave, the employer is required to keep him employed and offer an equivalent position upon his return. The only way he can terminate such person is if the position itself was eliminated through process such as re-organization or layoffs.
I'm sure you didn't actually mean custodial work.
This would be a good time to consult an attorney for options. Someone will need to evaluated all the circumstances and come to a game plan. Getting an anonymous tips from open forums such as this, based on incomplete information won't help you/him much.

Medical transcription?
I am currently taking some online school for MT, I am towards the end but am having really hard time doing it. I even try skipped two weeks and now I am too lazy to go back and finish. It is getting very hard and difficult with transcribing reports and even understanding what the doctors say on the dictation tapes. I don't want to give up because I paid nearly $2,000. Any advice or encouragement. PLEASE NO BAD REMARKS.

I went through that about six years ago, though I went to a physical school, and I work at home, set my hours, my days are so much better than they ever used be even just by the mere fact that I am working from home! The other thing I will tell you is that the tapes we had to transcribe in school were horrendous...lol! I have yet to type a report that was as awful as those tapes we had to type from in school (if this gives you any encouragement to know that it more than likely will never be as hard as it is now)! You are probably at a hurdle with this and once you pass this hurdle, you will be amazed at how much clearer you can hear the dictators, most of my class had this hurdle at one point or another! It did help me to have others in class who were going through the same thing and then seeing them pass their hurdles would give me the encouragement to continue onward! Should I be a doctor or RN nurse?
Hi, I'm in 7th grade and have been homeschooled all my life, I'm going into public school this year though. Even though some people don't think homeschoolers are smart I think I'm smart and I relly want to be a doctor or RN nurse when I grow up.
I think I'd make a really good doctor because health intrests me and I like to help others, but on the other hand, being an RN nurse might be easier and is more in the realm of being possible. Even though being an RN nurse seems good, My dream job is to be a doctor. Would this be to hard and expensive dream to pursue? I'm taking health this coming school year (in public school) so that should help either career.
My parents are willing to pay around $25,000 - $30,000 to put me through college, the rest I have to pay myself. How much would it cost to get a suitable degree to be a doctor? (p.s. the doctor I want to be is a Diagnostician - the kind of doctor House is) And do I have to go through 8 years of college AND medical school? How long does medical school last (and cost)? What do i have to do to be an RN nurse?
I'm also scared that if I try to become a doctor I might fail and end up losing tons of money put into college. But I also know that I won't ever give up. What should I do?

I want to be a nurse pracitioner because they are almost a dr they can have patients and can give out certain perscriptions but they dont have as much responcibility as a dr, and get better working hours (i would think) maybe go for a pratitioner if a dr doesnt work out (i think its like 2 more years of school)
also if you are going to be a dr be prepared for another 10 years of school when to become a nurse its 4 and then 2 to become a practitioner ( or at least here in manitoba)

I'm 17 and a junior in high school. I've decided that i'm gonna join the air force or the army and i want to attend college also. I would like to work in the medical field at school and on the job. But i don't know what part of the field i want to go in.

Take my word of experience...what you sign up for is never what you get. My son out of high school signed up for computers. His "computer" field turned out to be repairing F-15 Eagles guidance systems on the active flight line. It was mostly just switching out one control box for another. that's as close to a computer he ever got. Once your name is on the dotted line...you're theirs...They put you where they want you...My son has been in 23 years, and is getting ready to retire, but all that schooling he was supposed to be able to get...he has a 2 year associates degree. It ain't all what they say.
But if you want to know about opportunities in the military medical fields, Just talk to a recruiter; he can lie to you about it better than anybody. He can downright convince you to "sign on the dotted line"
Ok army is not better than the airforce and vice versa, while i have friends in both branches, my husband is in the Army and Im in school working towards a medical degree also (Psychiatry), My biggest fear is getting PCS'd..If they say move, you have to move. Stability is never a guarantee and thats realy hard to do while in college. We havent gotten PCSd because my husband is still in iraq (over a year now), but that is the only concern i have with it.
Also, at the base where we are stationed there are civilian nurses that work at the TMC, they go through certain clearance before being able to work there but, just thought I would throw it out there.

Do you think that there is something wrong with a CNA not wanting to go back to school to become an RN?
I am a certified nursing assistant and i really do not want to go back to school to become a Registered Nurse. Instead i would prefer to advance further in my career and become a Dialysis Technician instead. Do you think that i am making the right career choice?
There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Some people are satisfied exactly where there are-no matter what they are. Many CNA's do not want to become RN's. Being an RN is a lot of responsibility. After being a CNA, many can not fathom being responsible for more no matter the pay. I personally, am in the process of going to school to become an RN, however I see noting wrong with those who do not want to be.
Only you can best judge what field you would be best in. It definitely seems like you have interest in the medical field. I would suggest you continue to follow through with whatever goals you may have, especially since it seems your heart is set on it. Many people are getting into the medical field because they are the most "recession proof" jobs. You could experience the best of both worlds!

Actually, the last clinical job I worked was as a dialysis nurse, and I have the same comment - a great tech made the day go very well. Things were organized, I did not have to worry about the patients, because I knew they were well cared for.
One thing is check the salary - when one of the techs, who was my friend, told me what she was making, I was appalled. It was around 12/hr. Techs have much responsibility, and can affect the patient either very positively or very negatively.
I believe that the right career path for you is the one where you enjoy your job, and do not hate getting out of bed each day.

You are probably more of a people person, more caring, and you want to be more hands on with the patients/residents as opposed to performing nursing tasks. I commend you. If you driving, be sure to have an MP3 player of some sort, and maybe magazines or books. Road trips can get VERY boring if you don't have anything to keep you occupied. Also while in Florida, have a camera, the obvious clothing, and toiletries. Bringing a pillow for the car ride would be a good idea too, that way if you fall asleep your neck does not hurt from an awkward position.
Have fun on your trip, and stay safe.

miserable. very crowded, and the curriculem is a lot different from america/other countires. for social, we don't learn about all the states, we learn about dumb stuff like pioneers. and the 7 year war, and the struggle for acadia, dumb stuff like that. although, the curriculam is 1 year easier I think..... why? you moving here?

Why is it that pilots are able to fly free for any airline?
My uncle is a Pilot for jetblue and he is able to fly free for any airline. Why is that. He can only fly though if there are seats available. (jumpseating)

Your uncle is then placed on Delta's standby list at the very bottom, after all Delta employees, spouses, kids, parents, retirees, AND buddy passes. Not too great a benefit in that case, huh?

If i didnt work then i would be happy to do the cooking and cleaning etc. but I would like him to help out with the children, even just spending time with them as i think its good for children to have both parents where possible

Hi...im planning a trip to Goa and going to visit a spice plantation....i had heard that a spice plantation also offers has elephant rides and washing....i think it is sahakari or tropical spice plantation.....can anyone please help me.....also wanted to knw hw much do they charge....??? also which wildlife sanctuary offers elephant ride in goa ???......Kindly pls help...Thanx....

OH MY GOD SHE WAS LYING!!!!! i THINK IT HURT MORE THAN LABOR! IT HURT MORE THAN MY GALLSTONE DID!
Im not kidding when I say my eyes were tearing up, I said every cuss word in the book, and she eventually had her legs intwined around my chest to keep me from squirming. She even did my nose ( I had hair on my nose?!) and wanted to do my sideburns even but I didnt let her.
Ok, Not that I thought I had a HAIRY FACE but I can see the differance now that I did it. But in repacement of that "hair" now I got all these red bumps! EEK! Do any of the women here do that? How do I make these bumps go away before my husband gets back from his trip tomorrow?!!?

LOL! I tricked my mom and her friends into getting it done at a salon as well, they were all screaming. Imagine getting your knuckles done, they held nothing in. Cuss words were flying.
The bumps are natural, right after you get threading done you are supposed to put cold water on the spot to keep the redness down, some cream will help to sooth it as well because it just went through a tramatic experience.

I know that many good intentioned tourists bring a lot of development and aid with them. Will piercing set off a metal detector?
I got some new piercings my parents dont know about, tomorrow i will be going on a plane, will they set off the metal detectors??
i have 3 and i've never had to worry about it- although mine are pretty small. i wouldn't wear anything with metal rivits like jeans or any other jewerly that day
the metal detectors go off a total amount of metal on your body. if it goes off, they will just take you into the glass box and wave a wand around/pat down

People that live in Cleveland,OH...HELP!?
well im going to Ohio this Wednesday, and i checked the weather but im just wondering, is it cold like wear a scarf, or a jacket or would a t shirt and a sweater be OK?
i live in Florida so cold weather is weird for me.

I see people, especially guys, sometimes going out without a coat or jacket, but for me, I have to have a jacket and a scarf with this kind of weather.
I would probably wear a sweater and bring your jacket along to wear. Depending how heavy your jacket is, it may still be cold for you, but I don't think you need a scarf.
I just switched over from my heavy winter coat to my spring (lighter) jacket, but I'm used to the weather up here.

I am planning on going travelling to thailand in August, I know it is rainy season. Will this hinder my trip?
Should I look at other places like cambodia? or will I be ok, I dont mind rain, just dont want it to be wet for the entire time I will be there.
Advice from people that have been or live there only please, I have read about weather on the net.

You will get some rain during that time of year but the rain usually stops in an hour or two and the sun comes out again. Often the rain falls at night. Some minor flooding until the drains can handle the downpour.
When it rains stop in a mall, visit a restaurant, catch up on your sleep, or see a movie. The rain will stop and the air will be nice and clean and the greenery will be in full bloom.
One advantage of this time of year is that the hotels will be at "low season" pricing and it will be pretty easy to get a place on a walk in if you want.
Safety advice for women is not that different than for men. Be careful of who you trust with your hotel key! Don't fully trust any strangers you meet on the road. Avoid dark areas late at night, if you feel funny about something then don't do it!
My recommendation is that you stay in at least cheap hotels with air conditioning because then you can keep the windows locked. With fan only rooms (especially first/bottom floor) you usually only have screens keeping people out. A/C rooms are quieter too! Don't flash money around. I usually keep small bills in one pocket instead of looking through a fat wallet all the time.
Use the security box in your hotel room for valuables. I would leave a laptop at home if you intend to stay in cheap dorm type places. For photos you can use a Flash Drive or portable hard drive if you want. They will fit in a safety box and most laptops do not! There are lots of cheap internet shops all over Thailand you can use.
On buses, planes, trains even taxi cabs - keep your important stuff like passports, electronics, money, jewelry (better to leave good stuff at home anyway) and medicines with you at your seat. Don't put money, passport, medicines, valuables in your checked in bag, anywhere - even in your own country!
Keep in touch with your family and friends, tell them who you meet and travel with. Let your friends and family know where you are heading for and with whom. If you are going on a tour tell your hotel where you are going and with what company and tell them when you should be back.
I met a couple older women traveling alone who would use their camera phones to photograph the driver when they went on long trips. They forwarded those camera pics to friends.
Watch out for scams. Google up scams in Bangkok for more info. Tuk-tuks are often mentioned in scams, gems and gold/jewelry usually figure in some scams. If it seems too good to be true it probably isn't! (Meter taxi cabs, paying the meter fare only, are cheaper for tourists than tuk-tuks anyway!)
Check out the travel forums below for specific information. When you need hotel recommendations mention how much you want to pay per night. Hotels/hostels start around 200 baht and go on up to over 6000 baht per night. Choose a baht figure for you hotel price.
I personally think that Thailand may be safer for you to travel in than perhaps your own country providing you do not do silly things like use dope, travel with dopers, get wasted every time you have a few drinks! Most of the problems I read about with women is when booze or men they pick up are involved!

But don't forget novembers fiasco, many of my friends were stuck there for 3 weeks when they only set out for a week and a half.
Despite this they got engaged so sometimes you gotta take risks , they can sometimes work out for the best.

Ibn Battuta on Sheikh Zayed Road near Jebel Ali used to have a Hot Topic look-alike (called Rage or something equally banal), but I don't know if it's still there (haven't been to that mall in a few months). Probably your best bet, though, would be to web order. There's not much of a market here for emo. Good luck tho!
