How much would a taxi ride from Los Angeles to San Francisco cost?

Well, it all depends on the company you use, but it will be well over 1000.00.

Put it this way, youre better off renting a car or flying.

Im fifteen and going to daytona fl with my friends for spring break what should i bring (clothes, extra)?

Im fifteen and going to daytona fl with my friends for spring break what should i bring (clothes, extra) were going to drive down from michigan and stopping in tennesse for a night

If you driving, be sure to have an MP3 player of some sort, and maybe magazines or books. Road trips can get VERY boring if you don't have anything to keep you occupied. Also while in Florida, have a camera, the obvious clothing, and toiletries. Bringing a pillow for the car ride would be a good idea too, that way if you fall asleep your neck does not hurt from an awkward position.

Have fun on your trip, and stay safe.

Daytona Bch, Fla, is nice place to stay, a lot of hotels and places to visit like ponce inlet harbour, museums, clubs, etc., well the weather is soft in here, but you should take some warm clothes as well cause sometime it's cool seabreeze

Whats high school like in Canada?

12th Grade. I mean.

miserable. very crowded, and the curriculem is a lot different from america/other countires. for social, we don't learn about all the states, we learn about dumb stuff like pioneers. and the 7 year war, and the struggle for acadia, dumb stuff like that. although, the curriculam is 1 year easier I think..... why? you moving here?

The same as high school in most other places.

The same as everywhere else.

Why is it that pilots are able to fly free for any airline?

My uncle is a Pilot for jetblue and he is able to fly free for any airline. Why is that. He can only fly though if there are seats available. (jumpseating)

It is just a deal between airlines. As you note, it can be quite restrictive and sometimes requires a very circuitous routing to get to a popular destination.

It's a courtesy and a benefit for being a pilot and working in the airline industry in general. But it's not as glamorous as it may sound. Imagine sitting on an ironing board for anywhere from an hour or two to 12 hours or more if you have to jumpseat overseas and there are no passenger seats available in the cabin.

Also there's no guarantee of getting on if that airline's jumpseat is already taken by a pilot for that airline. Say your uncle is trying to jumpseat on Delta but a Delta pilot already has the jumpseat. Your uncle is then placed on Delta's standby list at the very bottom, after all Delta employees, spouses, kids, parents, retirees, AND buddy passes. Not too great a benefit in that case, huh?

it's a deal between airlines. it's professional courtesy, it offers pilots another perk, and it can help get pilots to a certain city if they are suddenly needed there

Egyptian women: Would you marry a man who would not help you with the children? Around the home or help cook?

I think you will find that this happens all over the world not just in egypt.

I personally would like to have a husband that helped out alittle but it depended on what i did. If i didnt work then i would be happy to do the cooking and cleaning etc. but I would like him to help out with the children, even just spending time with them as i think its good for children to have both parents where possible

my husband don%26#039;t help me cook which i don%26#039;t mind at all but i get upset sometimes when am tired or so %26amp; he don%26#039;t even put his glass on the table but since he noticed it makes me upset he changed a bit not 100% but a bit which is ok with me

The problem is that you%26#039;ll never know until you%26#039;re already married.

Why do some Egyptian men say they don

Its just a personal choice. maybe they dont personally find egyptian women attractive. or maybe they want to experience a different culture of been with someone different.

I dont think its an attack on egyptian women.

Foreign women are more practical tha Egyptian women...But after all when I m going to get married I will marry an Egyptian girl cause we have the same traditions.

coz they r stupid

am egyptian woman & married to lebanese who swares that he was blessed by marring me (am not exaggerating i sware this is the truth)

what are you talking about?! Egyptian women are so adorable.

shhhhhhhh .... that's for the sake of some thumbs up ; )

Because they have "3o2det el 7'awaga".

They don't appreciate their own kind.

maybe because they are because ??

probably because they are not good looking

How would you know they said that?

Sick on the plane? Help Please :)?

So I fly on the plane like 2-3 times a year and usually never get sick, but the last few times I have gotten very dizzy and feel like I have to throw up? Is this motion sickness? Are there any common medications that I do not need a prescription for that would help me? Thank you (oh the flight is 9 hours if that helps)

Sounds like motion sickness. The most common drug to take is Dramamine. No prescription is required. Talk to pharmacist and see if they know where you can get some. It will make you a little sleepy.

Question about National Archives in DC?

Do you have to make reservations or can you just go in? I mean, to go in and see the Declaration of Independence and documents like that, not to go in and look through documents.

Thanks in advance.

No reservations required. There may be a queue (line) or there may not be one, depending on the luck. I have seen it both ways.

This is my help from Washington, D.C. United States of America.

Please pick an answer as the best answer, even if it is not mine.

you don't have to make a reservation, but make sure your like over 14 i think, be with an adult

Is there anything that exists that is like an au pair program but you can go with a friend?

Im interested in becoming an au pair but would be completely sold if I didn't have to go alone! Is there a program that anyone knows of that allows you to live with a friend or something that would at least make sure you are in the same area as a friend?

The best you could hope for is a family that wants two au pairs.

Otherwise au pairs don't really have any choice, it's not like the agency can find families in the same neighborhood just for you two.

And most au pairs I know are really quite brave and daring souls that don't need existing friends in their host country. They go out and explore! I have two friends here that ended up staying, studying, living with their [non-host] boyfriends and getting pregnant :) Young Europeans all of them.

And the host families don't always accept the girls they get, or the girls don't like the families. The girls get new hosts, but on short notice they have little choice in their placement.

If you taller then the bars in jamica can your drink?

I heard that in Jamica if your taller than the bar you can drink is that true

There will be someone that will sell you a drink but if you are underage you should not be drinking. Some bars in the Caribbean islands do not enforce the legal drinking age but on ships and hotels they might.

no not true. you may get away with drinking if you look older than your actual age but the legal age to drink is 18.

Why are airports so important as staging point for international travel?

Because in many parts of the world the only convenient way to access the majority of the other countries is by air travel. They're simply too far away for any other mode to be efficient.

Airports are 'gateways' into and out of a country. That's where customs and immigrations are located. Before air travel, ship ports where the gateways. Although there are still some roadways between countries, most people prefer air travel.

Face threading..OH MY GOD ITS MASOCHISTIC!!?

So my neighbor comes over last night.

"Hey NM, you gotta hairy face, Im gonna thread it."

"I do?? *looks in mirror* No I dont?"

"Yes you do lemme thread it it'll only take a few minutes"

"uuh, ok. does it hurt?"

"No more than doing your eyebrows"

OH MY GOD SHE WAS LYING!!!!! i THINK IT HURT MORE THAN LABOR! IT HURT MORE THAN MY GALLSTONE DID!

Im not kidding when I say my eyes were tearing up, I said every cuss word in the book, and she eventually had her legs intwined around my chest to keep me from squirming. She even did my nose ( I had hair on my nose?!) and wanted to do my sideburns even but I didnt let her.

Ok, Not that I thought I had a HAIRY FACE but I can see the differance now that I did it. But in repacement of that "hair" now I got all these red bumps! EEK! Do any of the women here do that? How do I make these bumps go away before my husband gets back from his trip tomorrow?!!?

OMG! you make me laugh so hard..my first laugh of the day!

Darn, just try to use some ice cubes to reduce the swelling..

You are so funny!!!

LOL! I tricked my mom and her friends into getting it done at a salon as well, they were all screaming. Imagine getting your knuckles done, they held nothing in. Cuss words were flying.

The bumps are natural, right after you get threading done you are supposed to put cold water on the spot to keep the redness down, some cream will help to sooth it as well because it just went through a tramatic experience.

Good luck, and funny story.

LOL. You reminded me of the movie '40yearold virgin;. This guy in the movie get wax off his hair on chest. He cussed alot too lol.

hehe funny story! I've never tried it, and now I don't think I will EVER try it, lol!

lol , just use some ice or a cream :)

I have had this done; not the whole face though. And only once. Like you said, it hurts. My daughter had it done a number of times.

The woman who threaded us was Pakistani. She remarked that the roots of our hairs were a lot bigger than she was used to in Pakistani/Indian women; maybe it hurts blonds more than brunettes.

So why did you let her continue if it was so painful? LOL

Okay now you have bumps? We didn't get bumps, but I think what you have to do is treat your face with hot damp cloth (not hot enough to hurt! Use your common sense!) for a few minutes, then cold for a minute. This will accelerate healing. The face heals very fast anyway. After this I recommend some aloe vera gel. You know, the stuff they sell to put on sunburn. Or else, straight from the aloe vera plant. This is soothing. You should be back to normal soon.

What are the solutions to these problems?

Litter left on beaches

Sex, drugs, alcohol and prostitution become encouraged.

Locals cut off from rivate ?beach and hotel areas.

Younger generation opy?western culture and may ead them away from their culture and education?br>

Traditional jobs such as farming and fishing are lost thank you

ps. these are all problems because of tourism in Kenya

Every kind of progress brings problems, or rather challenges with it. But do not blame all the problems on tourism. I know that many good intentioned tourists bring a lot of development and aid with them. The younger generation should be encouraged to hold on to the good values of their culture but the older generation also should struggle to eradicate bad aspects in their different cultures and give a good example in their life and behaviour to the young ones. Above all corruption in all places should be fought by all to eradicate poverty and injustice.

You start of by demanding a government that doesn't put all the aid it receives in its own pockets, then maybe if people started to get a better standard of life where they lived they wouldn't be so enthusiastic to go somewhere else. So instead of blaming other people and cultures you should look closer to home first.

Will piercing set off a metal detector?

I got some new piercings my parents dont know about, tomorrow i will be going on a plane, will they set off the metal detectors??

i have 3 and i've never had to worry about it- although mine are pretty small. i wouldn't wear anything with metal rivits like jeans or any other jewerly that day

the metal detectors go off a total amount of metal on your body. if it goes off, they will just take you into the glass box and wave a wand around/pat down

It depends on the amount and type of metal involved.

Regards,

Dan

it shouldn't mine didnt.

People that live in Cleveland,OH...HELP!?

well im going to Ohio this Wednesday, and i checked the weather but im just wondering, is it cold like wear a scarf, or a jacket or would a t shirt and a sweater be OK?

i live in Florida so cold weather is weird for me.

It's going to be in the 40's during the day, and colder at night.

I see people, especially guys, sometimes going out without a coat or jacket, but for me, I have to have a jacket and a scarf with this kind of weather.

I would probably wear a sweater and bring your jacket along to wear. Depending how heavy your jacket is, it may still be cold for you, but I don't think you need a scarf.

I just switched over from my heavy winter coat to my spring (lighter) jacket, but I'm used to the weather up here.

Oh, that's funny. You're going to love it here.

It could be 70 degrees tomorrow and snow the next day. Just one of the many joys of living here. Pack for anything especially this time of year.

I am planning on going travelling to thailand in August, I know it is rainy season. Will this hinder my trip?

Should I look at other places like cambodia? or will I be ok, I dont mind rain, just dont want it to be wet for the entire time I will be there.

Advice from people that have been or live there only please, I have read about weather on the net.

Many thanks

You will get some rain during that time of year but the rain usually stops in an hour or two and the sun comes out again. Often the rain falls at night. Some minor flooding until the drains can handle the downpour.

When it rains stop in a mall, visit a restaurant, catch up on your sleep, or see a movie. The rain will stop and the air will be nice and clean and the greenery will be in full bloom.

One advantage of this time of year is that the hotels will be at "low season" pricing and it will be pretty easy to get a place on a walk in if you want.

Safety advice for women is not that different than for men. Be careful of who you trust with your hotel key! Don't fully trust any strangers you meet on the road. Avoid dark areas late at night, if you feel funny about something then don't do it!

My recommendation is that you stay in at least cheap hotels with air conditioning because then you can keep the windows locked. With fan only rooms (especially first/bottom floor) you usually only have screens keeping people out. A/C rooms are quieter too! Don't flash money around. I usually keep small bills in one pocket instead of looking through a fat wallet all the time.

Use the security box in your hotel room for valuables. I would leave a laptop at home if you intend to stay in cheap dorm type places. For photos you can use a Flash Drive or portable hard drive if you want. They will fit in a safety box and most laptops do not! There are lots of cheap internet shops all over Thailand you can use.

On buses, planes, trains even taxi cabs - keep your important stuff like passports, electronics, money, jewelry (better to leave good stuff at home anyway) and medicines with you at your seat. Don't put money, passport, medicines, valuables in your checked in bag, anywhere - even in your own country!

Keep in touch with your family and friends, tell them who you meet and travel with. Let your friends and family know where you are heading for and with whom. If you are going on a tour tell your hotel where you are going and with what company and tell them when you should be back.

I met a couple older women traveling alone who would use their camera phones to photograph the driver when they went on long trips. They forwarded those camera pics to friends.

Watch out for scams. Google up scams in Bangkok for more info. Tuk-tuks are often mentioned in scams, gems and gold/jewelry usually figure in some scams. If it seems too good to be true it probably isn't! (Meter taxi cabs, paying the meter fare only, are cheaper for tourists than tuk-tuks anyway!)

Check out the travel forums below for specific information. When you need hotel recommendations mention how much you want to pay per night. Hotels/hostels start around 200 baht and go on up to over 6000 baht per night. Choose a baht figure for you hotel price.

I personally think that Thailand may be safer for you to travel in than perhaps your own country providing you do not do silly things like use dope, travel with dopers, get wasted every time you have a few drinks! Most of the problems I read about with women is when booze or men they pick up are involved!

Good luck.

Only time it will hinder your trip is if there is flooding. As for being a female here, your not the first to travel alone here. Don't do drugs, don't accept drinks from strangers, do walk on the beach alone at night, don't walk in unlit areas, don't insult the King or a Thai person, and always keep your senses about you.

I'll give you some advice about Thailand.

Great food, beautiful scenery.

But don't forget novembers fiasco, many of my friends were stuck there for 3 weeks when they only set out for a week and a half.

Despite this they got engaged so sometimes you gotta take risks , they can sometimes work out for the best.

Have a great Vacation/Holiday

ive been to bankok as well as cambodia within that month last year and weather is good. note that the place is a tropical country so weather can be unpredictable even the forecast can be erratic sometimes.

tropical countries can be sunny all year round, more sun, less rain:)

Went last year July and although it's rainy, it only rains for a while and then stops...doesn't last the whole day like it does here in UK. You'll have a fab time!

If you roll more in Northern Thailand you would do better with the weather that time of year.

Is ther any stores in dubai that sell emo stuff?

im new in dubai and im really looking for a sotre jst like hottopic which sell lots of emo stuff but i ***** find any stores in dubai!!! since in my country america have emo stores n stuff i thought they had here too but i ***** find!!! plz tell me the store and location

You can find *some* stuff in Burjuman, but be prepared to pay a pretty penny. Ibn Battuta on Sheikh Zayed Road near Jebel Ali used to have a Hot Topic look-alike (called Rage or something equally banal), but I don't know if it's still there (haven't been to that mall in a few months). Probably your best bet, though, would be to web order. There's not much of a market here for emo. Good luck tho!

Oh yeah, have you checked the new Dubai Mall at the base of Burj Dubai? I don't know what all they have there, I'll be going for the first time this or next weekend, I'll keep my eyes open for you.

Good evening !

I agree with the first commentor and you can also try Posters , the best thing is to buy them online
